Phone loads

dharig

Level 1

I went through a pain staking TAC process to upgrade my 7975G phones to 8-5-2S from a much older release in order to be able to go to 8-5-3TH.   I just upleaded 8-5-3TH to the system yet when I rebootn the phones they do not take the new load?

Thoughts?

I think I reproduced your scenario and then showed the way forward:

Starting condition:

-----------------------

Phone loads in flash and tftp-server statements match...good....

Ahh, but here the Telephony-Service shows the old load will be used... (not good)

UC540#sh telephony-service | inc 7975
load 7975 SCCP75.8-4-2S

And here, the phone is running this old load (also visible from Phone menu):

UC540#sh ephone phone-load | inc SCCP75
SEP001D450BB1A6    SCCP75.8-4-2S          SCCP75.8-4-2S         Reset-Restart

-------------------------------------

Lets update Telephony-service:

-------------------
UC540#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.
UC540(config)#telep
UC540(config)#telephony-service
UC540(config-telephony)#load  7975 SCCP75.8-5-3S
Updating CNF files
CNF files update complete for phonetype(7975) <---this is automatically done

UC540(config-telephony)#end

So lets look in system:its and see the default xml file for this phone:
UC540#dir system:its | inc 7975

And look in this file (see bold below) which is now correct.

Been there done that.

This hours long manual upgrade process in the CLI is just so totally unnecessary (and frustrating).

I guess somebody thinks it provides job security - but it wont for the long term if the market decides the product is too hard to maintain.

Quite the opposite

We know partner owners want CCA,

It makes it easier to make money.

lower cost of deployment.

If something is broke, we can fit it,
