Asa 5505 newbie question (outside static and NAT)

Hi everybody,

First of all let me tell you that I'm totally new with Cisco firewalls. I have experience for Watchguard only.

I need to configure firewall to use static IP for outside network. With wizard I can configure ASA to use DHCP for outside network and everything goes fine but when I try to configure ASA to use static IP I can't connect to outside world anymore.

There is a router from ISP between ASA and internet and it uses static IP 81.209.97.9. I need to configure ASA to use IP 81.209.97.10 for outside interface.

Can you tell me the steps to do this? Can it be done in ASDM or do I need console connetion? Should I create static route between router and firewall or how do I tell firewall the IP of the router?

Thanks

Juha

Just found this link. Very simple and easy to follow. Only 6 steps.

You basically need the following.

route

permission

to allow traffic through any firewall.

-KS
