I am having a problem configuring any interface on my ASA 5510 running ASA 8.2.1. When i try to configure an interface I am unabl eto assign an IP addres, security level, name the interface or do anythingt else that would allow me to use the device. When I hit the "?" to see the allowed command I recieve the following:

corpfir01(config)# interface ethernet 0/1

corpfir01(config-if)# ?

Interface configuration commands:
default      Set a command to its defaults
  description  Interface specific description
dhcp         Configure parameters for DHCP client
  duplex       Configure duplex operation
exit         Exit from interface configuration mode
help         Interactive help for interface subcommands
no           Negate a command or set its defaults

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hmm...Are you logged in with priv 15 account?

issue "sh curpriv" and make sure

what does "sh firewall" say?

Do you have it as transparent firewall?

If so, change it back to routed mode and you can assign ip address to the interface.

no firewall transparent

-KS

corpfir01# sh firewall
Firewall mode: Router

Resoloved by issuing:
mode single and rebooting
