Hi,
I got this erroron my CSS 11503:"%% Maximum keepalives of this type have been exceeded. Cannot activate"
Cisco says that:
CSCek46451 - If you attempt to modify a configured service or global keepalive, you may incorrectly receive the message "%% Maximum keepalives of this type have been exceeded. Cannot activate" when the maximum number has not been exceeded. This message may occur when you configure a global keepalive and add the global keepalive to a service. Later, you change the global keepalive type to type tcp. After you activate the keepalive or it is modified dynamically when the global keepalive is already active, the internal keepalive count is corrupted. This problem may cause any further service or global keepalive modifications to fail with the previously-described error message.
How can I solve this issue without upgrading software of CSS 11503? Current version 8.10

You have 8.10(1.06) and the problem has been fixed in 8.10(2.05)
You need to upgrade to the latest 8.10 version which is 8.10(6.02).
After that the problem will be solved.

There is a limit of keepalives to configure. Limit depends on type of keepalive. Class A and class B. Type in "sh keepalive-summary brief" and you see your maximum. Changing firmware will not extend the limits.
CISCOCSS# sh keepalive-summary brief
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
KEEPALIVES: System Maximum - 2048
Class A (ICMP, TCP, HTTP-head non-persistent, SSL): MAX - 2048
Class B (FTP, HTTP-Head persistence, HTTP-Get, Scripted): MAX - 512

The number of my keepalives don't reach limit of 2048.
CSS11503# sh keepalive-summary
Keepalives:
AUTO_nexthop00001 State: Alive 10.0.139.254
AUTO_PRDWEB1-CRMWEB01 State: Alive 10.0.139.120
AUTO_PRDWEB2-CRMWEB02 State: Alive 10.0.139.121
AUTO_UATWEB1-CRMWEBTST01 State: Alive 10.0.139.140
AUTO_UATWEB2-CRMAPPTST03 State: Alive 10.0.139.146
AUTO_DIAMOND-WEB01 State: Down 10.0.139.97
AUTO_DIAMOND-WEB03 State: Alive 10.0.139.11
AUTO_DIAMOND-WEB02 State: Alive 10.0.139.98
AUTO_DIAMOND-WEB04 State: Alive 10.0.139.11
AUTO_NTP-Redundancy01 State: Alive 10.0.139.17
AUTO_NTP-Redundancy02 State: Alive 10.0.139.18
Option brief doesn't available.
service DIAMOND-WEB03
ip address 10.0.139.11
keepalive port 3333
keepalive type tcp
active
I have about 10 such kind of services.
I think the problem is in modificaton keepalive type dynamically when the global keepalive is already active, the internal keepalive count is corrupted. This problem may cause any further service or global keepalive modifications to fail with the previously-described error message.

P.S. I can add keepalive type tcp, but can't keepalive type ICMP.
