Interface BVI and G.SHDSL

Hi all,

Today i setup the link via Interface V.35 with encap frame-relay, i used Interface BVI instead of Serial Interface but it not work. i can't ping to provider gateway but router shown me everything is up (Interface and line protocol). I asked to provider he said because you use V.35 not G.SHDSL then you couldn't configure BVI. I returned to use Serial Interface that it working properly.

Anyone can clarify/advice me about the relationship of V.35, G.SHDSL and Interface BVI.

Hello,

the question is not V.35 versus SHDSL but how the service is configured and what encapsulation is expected:

bridging over frame relay is possible but it is a different encapsulation from sending IP packets inside a FR frame:

IP over FR = FR | IP

bridging over FR = FR | ethernet | IP

if you send the second one and the other device expects the first there is no match.
