BAD MEMORY

hi ,

When i am switching on the router i am getting the output :

" system bootstrap, version 11.0(10c), software

copyright (C) 18601996 by cisco systems

Bad memory - wrote zero , read 0x00000900 at location 0x00000010 "

what would be the problem and suggest solution for this.

can we copy fresh IOS on memory(router 3560) which has been corrupted by putting on another series of router(2500) which is serviceable .

This error doesn't have anything to do with the IOS on flash. This is an indicator of a bad DRAM chip.

Replacement of the bad chip is the only option. There are several companies that sell chips for older platforms.

Hello Mitra,

Open up the box and reseat the memory, if that does not help, then you need to get new memory for it.

2500 routers and 3560 switches use different IOS images. Do not load 2500 image on a 3560 or vise versa.
