I'm trying to use the Cisco Configuration Pro app, but it just hangs.
It never really starts up, it opens a IE window, and that window just hangs, and the CCP splash screen never goes away.
In the log file (catalina.2010-02-01.log), it says:

I'm using CCP v2.1, IE 8, latest Java and Flash, and Window 7 x64
Anyone else experienced this?
Thanks.

Latest java is not supported, please make sure you are following the release notes for your system requirements:

Downgraded Java, but still the same.
Any other ideas?

1. try another browser such as firefox
2. try another OS, such as XP

Thanks for answering.
How do I try another browser, when CCP seem to open a Internet Explorer window automatically?
I have no PC with XP, and to reinstall just because Cisco does not know how to program software seems a bit harsh.
Is there a way to start up this "manually", as in starting up some of the .bat files, so it is possible to do some research myself?

You can, you just need to point your browser to http://x.x.x.x where x.x.x.x is the ip address of your router.

Hi,
Go back to properties and switch off compatibility mode. then go to internet explorer "Internet Option"->Advanced option and enable most of the setting. and that will work fine. and also dont forget to run as an Admin.
Good Luck

I guess that would assume that I use CP Express, which I'm not.
I'm using the PC based version, Professional.

The issue is obviously on the end user machine.
From your router CLI, you are trying to connect can you please send the outputs:
show run | i ip http
show flash:

Yes, this happened to me. The solution is to run the CCP app as Administrator (assuming you are running Vista or Windows 7). So instead of running the app by double-clicking, right-click and select "Run as Administrator". You also have to do that when you originally installed the CCP app.
Pretty silly.

Thanks for the real answer Jeffrey Albertine.

Slightly different issue here. I can't use IE because it's locked down by GPO from using ActiveX. Firefox is not so I could use it but I'm using the full version (our routers don't have CCP) so I can't point the browser at the router/ASA/switch.
Is there a way to use Firefox when installing CCP on a workstation (XP)?

right click and run as Administrator.
it will work fine.

To assist with this thread, I had similar issues with CCP v2.8.
After spending hours on my Windows 8.1 PC with IE 10 and Java 8 v66, reading threads and getting no where, but frustrated, I decided to try installing CCP on a different PC.
The second PC I installed it on has Windows 7, IE10 and Java 7 v67. After installation, it works like a champ! I was actually surprised how well it worked after all the trouble I had on my Windows 8 PC.
If you are having trouble with CCP on Windows 8, give it a try on 7 with the above parameters.
I hope this helps.
