Just passed ICND2

Unanswered Question
Feb 2nd, 2010

Hi I just passed ICND2 to get CCNA.

I don't know whether to go CCNP or do the CCNA specialization for Voice, Wireless and Security.

I mean its not like I need to know all on the CCNP like BGP etc

Also i don't work for a 3rd party support company where they need so many CCNP's and so many CCIE's.

Thoughts? Pro's Con's?

I have this problem too.

do whatever interests you.  CCNA-types are one exam only.  CCNP is now 3 exams (was 4, well, until July 2010 or something like that).  Or do something different like Linux+ (1 exam) or MCSE (7 exams?)

The first question is "Why?"

If your objective is to become more knowledgeable and proficient at your (current) job, then go with the specializations which will help you do that. If your objective is to enhance your resume (which is a perfectly fair and acceptable thing to do), then go with the certifications that put you on the path you want to follow...

It's great, and quite impressive, to be able to say you're a CCNP or CCIE. That's a very respectable achievement. But is it what YOU want?

Just my opinion...
