RSPAN issue

Answered Question
Feb 9th, 2010

Dear All,

I have 2 Catalyst 4507 trunked together, and already have an RSPAN session configured on them. The problem is I cannot see any traffic on the protocol analyzer attached to the destination port.

I've created rspan vlan 937 on both switches, and it is allowed on the trunk.

SW A:

monitor session 1 source interface Gi4/6
monitor session 1 filter packet-type good rx
monitor session 1 destination remote vlan 937

Session 1
---------
Type                   : Remote Source Session
Source Ports           :
    Both               : Gi4/6
Filter Pkt Type        :
    RX Only       : Good
Dest RSPAN VLAN        : 937

SW B:

monitor session 1 destination interface Gi3/43
monitor session 1 source remote vlan 937

Session 1
---------
Type                   : Remote Destination Session
Source RSPAN VLAN      : 937
Destination Ports      : Gi3/43
    Encapsulation      : Native
          Ingress      : Disabled
         Learning : Disabled
Filter Pkt Type        :
    RX Only       : Good

Destination port:

interface GigabitEthernet3/43
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
qos trust dscp
spanning-tree portfast trunk
spanning-tree bpduguard enable
service-policy input QOS-IN

Local session is working, I've tried, please advise

I have this problem too.

Hello Zoltanormos,

have you configured vlan 937 as a remote span vlan in vlan mode?

conf t

vlan 937

remote-span

this has to be done on both switches

remote-span command disables mac address learning

Hope to help
