Hi,

Just curious really. Does anybody know the meaning of "Si" in the icons: "Route/Switch Processor  with and without Si"?

Thanks in advance!

With kind regards, Tom

Si is the atomic symbol for Silicon.   I believe Cisco has used this in the past to indicate switching/routing in hardware instead of in software.

I believe it could mean "Standard Image" in relations to the IOS feature set.

I see a router stencil with the same "Si" in the icon.  The description is listed "Router w/Silicon Switch".

Ref:  Silicon Switch Processor, silicon switching.

Hi,

I still hold some realy old CISCO PPT ICONS

The "Si" does mean silicon

An example would be an old  7000 type router with an SSP

I have included the icons and description from the cisco download in the

enclosed ppt
