I am setting up a ASA 5505 in a remote office and then create a VPN to our HQ. Normally I get given an external public IP address for the outside interface of the ASA and another external public IP address for the gateway so I can route all traffic to a router (route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 188.8.131.52 1).
However a this new office (which is a service managed office) they have provided me with the following IP info:
The IP address and gateway are the same, is this right? The subnet mask suggests to me that there are 2 IP address in the subnet (one for the ASA and one is the router/gateway). They say it's right, do I give the outside address of the ASA the x.26.49.134 and do I route the traffic to x.26.49.134 - route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 x.26.49.134 1
Hope you can shed some light.
