Help with getting ASA 5505 on the Internet

Hello,

I am setting up a ASA 5505 in a remote office and then create a VPN to our HQ.  Normally I get given an external public IP address for the outside interface of the ASA and another external public IP address for the gateway so I can route all traffic to a router (route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 1.2.3.4 1).

However a this new office (which is a service managed office) they have provided me with the following IP info:

IP x.26.49.134
subnet 255.255.255.252
gateway x.26.49.134
DNS 158.43.128.72
DNS 195.129.12.115

The IP address and gateway are the same, is this right?  The subnet mask suggests to me that there are 2 IP address in the subnet (one for the ASA and one is the router/gateway).  They say it's right, do I give the outside address of the ASA the x.26.49.134 and do I route the traffic to x.26.49.134 - route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 x.26.49.134 1

Hope you can shed some light.

You definitely don't want your ASA's IP address to be the same as the Gateway's. Give the ASA the other IP and route the traffic to .134
