I'm in the process of redesigning on our branch office LANs. This office has a 6Mb connection into our MPLS clound as well as a 100Mb MetroE point to point linking us to another office. My question is concerning the layered design model, is it ok to terminate this MetroE into one of our distribution switches or should we move it up to the edge router?

Hi Robert
Is that link belongs to your own office network or connected to any client or 3rd party network ?
As a best practice its better to get it conencted to the edge and make it pass through all the security infrastructure/policies before you get it onto your local LAN.
If its from a trusted network (your own network) you can connect the same onto your distribution as well.

It is a point to point MetroE between two of our own office, would the provider's network that deliver's the p2p link warrant that level of security?
