Are you looking for this command?

The severty  is after alarms

Switch(config)#snmp-server enable traps ala
Switch(config)#snmp-server enable traps alarms ?
<1-4>          Max Severity of the Alarm Notifications
  critical       Service affecting Condition       (severity=1)
  informational  Informational notifications       (severity=4)
  major          Immediate action needed           (severity=2)
  minor          Minor warning conditions          (severity=3)

Switch(config)#snmp-server enable traps alarms

Hello Sharifi,

I m looking for the severity level of each traps that i have enabled. For Example: suppose if switch module goes faulty then snmp-server enable traps module trap will be triggered , so this trap will be in which severity ???

Feb 16 16:37:02.499: %C6KPWR-SP-2-PSFAIL: power supply 2 output failed.

Feb 16 16:37:02.503: %SNMP-5-CHASSISALARM: Chassis Alarm Trap: tmpAlarm(OFF), minorAlarm(ON), and/or majorAlarm(OFF)

I'm receiving snmp traps in syslogs how i can see only snmp traps apart from the syslogs.what is the command to chk snmp traps on the 6500 switch??.

Thanks,

Hello Dears

Nobody from cisco experts can answer my above question????  Answer will be highly appreciable.

Hi,

my understanding is:

Each of the commands

"snmp-server enable traps xxxx"

enables one family (Cisco calls it type) of traps being sent.

snmp-server enable traps stp - enables STP traps, e.g., all severities.

I'm not sure if it's possible to configure severity of particular traps with IOS, though.

I remember this was possible in CatOS in the past.

Traps are sent to SNMP port (UDP 162 if I remember correctly). You need a SNMP trap receiver program (like HP OV NNM, e.g.) to handle the traps received then.

"snmp-server enable traps syslog" makes the switch to sent a copy of each trap to your Syslog, too.

HTH,

Milan

I have to correct what snmp-server enable traps syslog actually does.  It sends what ever is sent to syslog as an snmp OID to what you have recieving your traps.  I wouldn't turn this on if you have a huge network or you will be bombarded with a tone of syslog messages.
