What is the use of "tunnel bandwidth transmit"

Hello,

I've got a 3845 here with 12.4. My understanding was that the "tunnel bandwidth transmit" was used to adjust

the outgoing traffic of a tunnel beyond a default of 8000 kbps.

However, I found that my Tunnel is actually processing outgoing traffic over 20 mbits/sec although the "Tunnel transmit bandwidth" under show int tunnel0 shows 8000 kbps.

I also noticed that the command is no longer available under the Tunnel interface on this IOS. Is this correct? Is it that basically the CPU today is really not an issue to process that much tunnel traffic so the command is deprecated?

CEF is turned on btw.

findings are that only advanced ip services still support the command.

I think it is interesting what you have seen: despite 8000 kbps of transmit bandwidth in sh interface tunnel you could put 20 Mbps of traffic over it.
