Hello Hitesh,

look for multilayer switches they can support IP SLA in recent IOS images and are the right devices for inter-vlan routing

to find a router that really supports 4 GE ports you should go to an ASR 1000 but it is much more expensive then a multilayer switch.

see 3560

Hope to help

It depends what you mean by "Lan to Lan routing".

If you simply mean inter-vlan routing within a LAN then Giuseppe is spot on with his advice, a L3 switch is the way to go. But i'm not entirely sure why you would need IP SLA simply for inter-vlan routing.

If you mean LAN to LAN across a WAN then you may well need to look at a router. Because you are looking for 4 gigabit interfaces it does suggest that either -

a) you are just doing inter-vlan routing

or

b) your WAN connections present as ethernet

Bear in mind that routers offer many more capabilites such as a more fully featured QOS set, NAT (only the 6500 switch can do NAT) etc.. But as Giuseppe says a router with 4 gigabit interfaces is expensive. Depending on what you need the interfaces for however you may be able to use an ISR router such as a 2800 with an etherswitch module which would give you the additional ports.

Without knowing more it's difficult to be precise.

A router with 4 GigEthernet?   I presume you want copper?  Hmmmm ...

It'll have to be a Cisco 3825 (2 GE) plus two HWIC-1GE-SFP + two GLC-TX.

I wouldn't call a 3800 router "basic".
