Software license version for CM7.X -demo to permanent

Hi amigos !

Some weeks ago we migrate licenses from call manager 4.1.3 to communication manager 7.1 . Following the procudure for migration we got

the DLUs, CCM node license; what is left is software license (the license unit report show it as DEMO).

when we tried to request the upgrade for software license by means of  configuration tool the only option provided was UCSS but is not clear for me

how can I get software license (permanent). if  I get UCSS I must get first Cisco unified communications operate contract number ???,

in addition UCSS-UCM-1-XX  is for a specific amount of user??

I need to get the permanent software license as soon as possible,   how can I do this?

thanks for your help

Hi Filiberto,

That's correct

There is no part# for a 4.x to 7.x migration as it is more than

two hops. But you still must have purchased the 7.x media via

the "Top Level" part#. With the 7.x media you should have received

a new PAK that entitles you to the Software feature License. Did

you check for this PAK.

Cheers!

Rob

Hi,

I had issues with my licence when upgrading from 7.0 to 7.1.3 - the full licences were reporting that they were demo licences. I had to email licensing@cisco.com with the relevant information (serial numbers, company name etc.) and they sent new licences within a few days

If you need it sorted sooner then aplly some pressure to your Cisco account Manager and they can normally push it through quite quickly for you.

Cheers,

Hey Filiberto,

Just wanted to add one thing to the great tips from Phil (+5 Phil)

When you received your upgrade media DVD's was there a PAK#

on a piece of paper in the small box? I would have thought there should

have been, and you would register this PAK# with Cisco Licensing

(against the Publisher mac) to get the Software feature License.

Cheers!

Rob

Hi  Rob,

In fact I did not received upgrade media; when we tried to ask for it in the purcharse order there was not product number available for upgrade from 4.1.x to 7.1. After checking  cisco's docs the only reference for upgrading was UCSS.However the UCSS is relating with an Cisco Unified Communications Operate Service Contrac,  that's why I'm confused.

thanks for your time
