How many E1 cards I can insert into 2801?
I read somewhere that it can support 30 max digital calls...
Thanks

Daniele,
The total E1 port capacity on a 2801 is 8 on-board E1 ports. However, the maximum voice channel (DS-0) capacity is 128 channels due to the fact you are limited by the number of PVDMs you can install in the chassis.
HTH.

Thanks William for your reply.
I think that I can mount 4 vwic2-2mft-e1, with a total of 8 port, and that I can mount 2 pvdm2-64, with 2 dsp slots (total 128 channel, like you say).
But using dynamic configuration tool and also dsp calculator, I obtain this message from cisco:
1. Please refer to the DSP Calculator at the following URL to make sure you have selected enough PVDM resources: http://cisco-apps.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/DSP/dsp-calc.pl. Note, Cisco 2801 supports maximum 30 digital voice calls with VWICs.
Is this correct? Why Cisco sell a router that can mount 2 pvdm-64 and 4 double e1 cards, but with this limitation?
Thanks
Daniele

Consider, the VWIC cards can be used for different purposes than voice calls, and the PVDMs for other purpose than terminating calls.
If you want to be on the safe side, follow the recommendations and use a 2801 for only one E1 PRI. Otherwise, Cisco may decline support in case something doesn't work.
