Part number IOS 1841 support VPN?

Dear All,

I have Cisco router 1841 (Modular Router w/2xFE, 2 WAN slots, 32 FL/128 DR), this part numer cannot do VPN,

so i want to order IOS that can support VPN but i don't know the part number.

If any one to know part number please let me know!!!

Hi,

What type VPN are you referring to, Layer-2, Layer-3 VPN?

Can you explain what are you trying to accomplish?

Hi Reza,

I just want IOS that i can do VPN client and VPN site to site( IPsec). so by defult IOS router 1841 that i have it don't support Ipsec.

could you explain me about IOS Layer2 and Layer3-VPN?

for Cisco Router 1841 is Layer 3 right? how about IOS Layer 2 that you ask me what does it mean?

Please help to explain me!!!

Hi Rechard,

You need advanced security version of IOS to be able to do IPSec and other VPN functions. Here is an example:

ASK9-ASK9 FEAT SET FACTORY UPG FOR BUNDLES

Release Date: 22/Oct/2009

Size: 33590.75 KB (34396928 bytes)
Minimum Memory: DRAM:192 MB Flash:64 MB

But you need to upgrade your flash and memory.

You need an IOS that has "k9" in the prefix.
