Problem with 2821 saving configuration

Aaron D
Level 1
Level 1

I'm having a very frustrating issue with a 2821 router. Its configured with zone-based firewall, URL filtering, ssl vpn...etc..Very long configuration. Problem is, it no longer will allow me to save the configuration. I tried write erase, erase nvram:, erase nvram:startup-config and it won't get rid of the old startup configuration. I tried service compress-config manually deleting all references to a startup-config, but it will never disappear, and it will no longer update. Configuration register is set to 0x2102.

I tried boot config to a config file in flash but this won't stay in the config due to the issue above.

Any help much appreciated.

thanks-

Aaron

What IOS are you running?

Also what error are you getting when you run  write mem

Mike

IOS is below, I'm getting no error when I do a write mem or copy run start. On a copy run start it gives me the [s

tarup-config] prompt

Can you post the output from the following please:

  • Show Flash:
  • Show Ver:

Regards

Also run the command

show file descriptor

Do you see 128 entries?

I think this is the same bug we just came across.
