I have a scenario where I need to institute a small, static group of multicast sources and destinations across 2 networks (network owners) where as the sources for the multicasts are on network A (mine) and the receivers on network b (clients). There is a single connection point between the networks. As from network A's perspective the Mcast traffic will essentiall be point to point (sources to network egress point) I am considering not configuring Mcast routing but instead creating GRE tunnels and sending the Mcast traffic down this tunnel. My question is: Is there any reason why I couldn't configure a static route or other means (Route maps etc.) using the Mcast group numbers to get this traffic into these tunnels?
Am I missing something? Is there a reason this wouldn't work?
Thanks in advance.
