Hello, I have a Cisco 2811 Router that continues to boot to Rommon.  The problem first occured once I powered the router off, then on again.

When the Router boots I get this message:

Readonly ROMMON initialized
boot: cannot determine first executable file name on device "flash:"
c2811 platform with 262144 Kbytes of main memory
Main memory is configured to 64 bit mode with ECC enabled

Can anyone help me fix this?

boot: cannot determine first executable file name on device "flash:"

Make sure you have a valid IOS image in flash.

This document is from the 2600 series but works the same with the 2800 series (of course, the IOS file will be different).

Hi,

The 2811 has internal flash as well,Make sure your flash card is seated all the way in, apparently it cannot read from it.Pop it out, push the button all the way in and then re-seat it so the button is down too. what i am thinking you are trying to load an image that requires 256M of main memory and 64 M of flash.

>c2811 processor with 262144 Kbytes of main memory
Looks like you have the default memory, 64M, you cannot run this image, you need an upgrade.

Hope to Help !!

That's incorrect.

Thanks for pointing out Edison, please suggest the right note !!

The line you indicated

Main memory is configured to 64 bit mode with ECC enabled

Does not reflect the amount of memory this system has. It indicates the memory is configured to 64 bit mode.

This line indicates the amount of memory the system has, which is 256MB

c2811 platform with 262144 Kbytes of main memory

The amount of flash was not displayed on the output from the original poster.

What complete IOS version (including the feature set) are you booting?
What is your DRAM size?
What is your Flash size?
Heck, while your at it, can you also find out what is the version of the bootstrap?
