Just a couple of Q's about wan link utilization:
When will the user notice the high bandwidth utilization over a wan link when running applications over the wan? If the utilization is above 30% or higher?
The same in a LAN environment, the utilization over a trunk. When will the application become slower or the user will start to complain? Will a gig trunk reporting 40-50% utilization impact the applications transporting data over the trunk or the user start to complain?
I just wonder if anyone have any experience with issues like this, or have any utilizations "guidelines" considering upgrading bandwith.

Hi,
If the WAN link is utilised above 75%, then the applications which you are accessing over WAN will be bit slow.If it reaches above 85% then i am pretty sure that those application accessing will be slow performance.Because we have faced the same problem lot's of times,Then we have implemented QoS on Edge routers.

No way.In LAN environment , if your LAN network is properly designed and implemented, then there will not be any performance issue.Even if users are complaining, then tell them to check the server's utilization.
Sometimes you need to take care about STP topology change in your network,This may lead into slow network performance.

Hi Geir,
Over the WAN link effiecency depends on the link utilization say if your link is getting choked or over utilized genrally performance degardes when it reaches 80 to 90% in links,so heavy drops will starts and performance of application will degarde at that time and same in the LAN once utilization touches above 75 % alert condition comes for slowness and complaining of application performance issue starts and all stuff.
Hope to Help !!
