Basic question on scenario with OSPF default-info originate

Hello,

Please find attached diagram.

Currently all 4507 as shown on the diagram have OSPF configured and ip default route pointing to Corporate border router. That said all 4507's are configured with 'default-information originate metric type 1'.

I will setup BGP and get rid of the static route on 4507's.

Proposal is to have only (1) 4507 per site peering eBGP with corporate border router, for simplicity reasons.

My question is:

In this case, should I remove the 'default-information originate metric 1' entry for the 4507's which will not peer eBGP? My point is, since 4507A and 4507C are not peering with Corporate router, they will not know how to send traffic out, correct?
If you have suggestions on how to handle this scenario please let me know.

Hi,

If i understood your question correctly then, your non-peerng routers (A and C ) need not have default info routes originated in Ospf.

The coorporate border routers (B and D) would take care of injecting them throughout your domain and of course with metric type 1.

Its good to test this scenario anyways in a lab environment for the good.

HTH,
