Stack Different 3750 Models

I have 3750G-24 TS and a 3750-24TS (non-gig)

Can I stack those two different kind of models?  Never done it before and it seems it would be odd since it would be 24 gig ports and 24 FE ports.

Thoughts? Links?

James

See the second link I provided. The major version must match, but you can have minor revisions between the two. You must force the mater to push the IOS to other stack memeber it does not do it automatically.

How about the code? Do they run the same code?  They must, right?  Otherwise the Master switch will push the code to the provisioned switch.

Oops, sorry Collin, i was a bit too quick off the mark there. Looks like you are now faster than me in posting answers

Jon

kindly, can somebody confirm weather those models can be stacked or not :

Yes they should run the same code although there are some intricacies in terms of major and minor versions of the same code. See this link which is actually part of the link Collin sent -

3750 stack software compatability

Jon

Thanks all for the help.  It's a tough one.  This is a remote site and I won't know what code will be on the 3750 before it gets plugged in.  The current master is set to priorty 15 so I should be good there. I have used these stacks quite a bit and am familiar on how to work and troubleshoot them.  I have never, however, had to plug in a different model number.  24 porters and 48 porters yes, but not 10/100 vs 10/100/1000.

Should be exciting tomorrow!

James

It is recommeded switches in the same stack run the same code with same feature set.  If a switch becomes the new master, that switch should support same feature set as the master or else you will have inconsistency.

switches will different cisco ios softwarer versions likely have different stack protocol versions.

switches with different major version numbers are incompatable and cannot exist in the same stack

Like I said earlier, I had not chance to see what was going to be plugged in. Now that the cables are connected I am getting an error.  Here is the output.

I am getting the following error when I plug in the  stacking cables:

Am I going to have to figure out a way to download a new IOS onto the slave switch?  It is at a DR site so production right now is not impacted.
