Hello Senthil,

what is on the other side of the multilink?

with shut/no shut you have restarted the PPP multilink state machine.

serial interfaces and ATM interfaces when pinged send out a real frame on wire to device on the other end of the link.

So if ping is not successful it can be a problem on the other side not able to send back the frame that carries the ICMP packet inside.

You should have seen what was the state on the other device before performing the sh/no sh

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hello Senthil,

I've asked you what is on the other side of the multilink PPP because for example you may be trying to build a PPP multink using serial interfaces of different Port adapters on flexwan modules in a Cisco 7600.

This is not supported.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Sir,

It is working multilink.sometimes only this type of status is happening. That is showing up both sides but not pinging.

After issuing shutdown and no shutdown commands at interface multilink it becomes ok.what might be the reason whether it is a transmission problem.

Regards,

Senthil

Sir,

It is working  multilink.sometimes only (for two days one time like that)this type of status is happening. That is  showing up both sides but not pinging.

After issuing shutdown and  no shutdown commands at interface multilink it becomes ok.what might be  the reason whether it is a transmission problem.

Individually i have checked both links found ok.Can we use debug commands for finding the reason.Which debug command i have to use Kindly help us.
