FWSM and VSS (Module Failed SCP dnld)

Hi,

i've tried using a FWSM (SW 3.2(x)) in an VSS (2 6509 catalysts, SW 12.2(33)SXI3).

After inserting the FWSM the module doesn't came up correctly.

Upgrading the FWSM to SW 4.1(1) (fwsm-support for vss) didn't help.

show module

Mod MAC addresses                       Hw    Fw           Sw           Status
--- ---------------------------------- ------ ------------ ------------ -------

9  001e.beaf.c898 to 001e.beaf.c89f   4.2   7.2(1)       main_dev@1.1 PwrDown

show logging

%ONLINE-SW1_SP-6-INITFAIL: Module 9: Failed to synchronize Port asic

%C6KPWR-SW1_SP-4-DISABLED: power to module in slot 9 set off (Module  Failed SCP dnld)

Any ideas?

Greetings Christian

Seems like you need to open a TAC case and request an RMA.

Yes, maybe it will end with an tac case.

But the point that confuses me is the fact that the fwsm starts up perfectly in an 7609 chassis.

The described problem only occurs within an vss 6509 chassis.

Ok, it seems to be the 6509 chassis.

I've tested succesfully the fwsm in an standalone 6509 as well as in an 7609. Furthermore the fwsm works perfectly in the second 6509 chassis (which holds the standby supervisor) of the vss.

But it doesn't works in the 6509 chassis (which holds currently the active supervisor).

This seems in deed an case for the tac.
