I have a PIX515e running IOS 6.3(5).  My Exchange server sends to a smart host on the Internet.  Currently I send to the smart host via an IP address.  I was just informed from my provider they want me to switch it from an IP address to a FQDN.  They want to do this to facilitate future changes some of which will be planned and some of which will not be planned.  Hmmmmmmmm   I know when I initally deployed my PIX515e you could not use a FQDN as part of an ACL.   It that still true?  I have upgraded since... Does 6.3(5) let you?  Is there a work around?

You still cannot use a FQDN on an ACL, just an IP address.

But how is your Exchange talking to the host on the Internet?

The ACL just allows/denies the traffic.
