Palo configuration guide

Anyone know how to present more than 2 vNICs with the new Palo VIC? Tried adding eth2 and eth3 but they show up as down inside ESX. Also created a dynamic vNIC policy with 6 vNICs but then no vmnics show up in ESX.

Make sure your adapter is running the latest firmware version (1.1-1J or 1L). Dynamic vnics are not vmnics, they're meant to be used for VN-Link in Hardware. Dynamic vnics are used by VMs that join port-groups in the DVS instantied by UCSM inside vCenter Server.

Your regular UCS  vnics (non dynamic) will be seen by ESX as vmnics:

[root@localhost ~]# esxcfg-nics -l
Name    PCI      Driver      Link Speed     Duplex MAC Address       MTU    Description
vmnic0  08:00.00 enic        Up   10000Mbps Full   00:25:b5:58:10:af 1500   Cisco Systems Inc 10G Ethernet NIC
vmnic1  09:00.00 enic        Up   10000Mbps Full   00:25:b5:58:10:cf 1500   Cisco Systems Inc 10G Ethernet NIC
vmnic2  0a:00.00 enic        Up   10000Mbps Full   00:25:b5:58:10:2e 1500   Cisco Systems Inc 10G Ethernet NIC
vmnic3  0b:00.00 enic        Up   10000Mbps Full   00:25:b5:58:10:3e 1500   Cisco Systems Inc 10G Ethernet NIC
[root@localhost ~]#

Dynamic vnics have placeholders on the PCI bus:

[root@localhost ~]# lspci | egrep -i "cisco.*pass"

thank you, that was a lot easier than what I was trying to make it. I see 4 vmincs now
