Max-ephones question

mcdonovan
Level 1
Level 1

Hi,  I have been asked to verify if we can raise the max-ephones in SRST mode from 40 to 80.  Is there a command(s) I can run to verify if the IOS and licenses on this router will support this?  I'm taking this on without history on the router so I don't what licenses are already installed on it.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi

Your 3845 is certainly powerful enough to be extended - all the way up to 720 phones if you like (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cusrst/requirements/guide/srs34spc.html).

The licensing of SRST isn't enforced in that version, your company will have bought a license that determines the number of phones you can have in SRST mode. The licenses were sold in sizes incrementing 24/48/96 etc as per this page:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/vcallcon/ps2169/product_data_sheet0900aecd805e1e79.html

So - you should really find out what was paid for... we can't help you with that, but can tell you there's nothing technical to stop you making the change.

Regards

Aaron
