EEM on 3550 Switch

It looks like the 12.2(52) release is able to run EEM. This only seems to be currently available for the WS-3550-24-DC-SMI model but I have that image loaded on a WS-3550-PWR-EMI:

This is in a lab environment but it seems to be holding up fine. Does anyone know if they will release this image for the other 3550 models? Has anyone tested with this image yet, either on the 3550-24-DC-SMI model or any other model?

Thanks for your help.

Essentially, all but the DC 3550s are end of life, so no new images are being released.  However, all 3550s run the same image.  In fact, I loaded 12.2(52)SE on my WS-C3550-24-SMI, and it works just fine.  I have been doing quite a bit of EEM work on this switch so I could build solutions using the new EDs.

This is excellent news. We have a large amount of 3550's installed, and we could use EEM at many of these locations. What would be the best source for documentation? I can see that the event detectors are somewhat different from those available in the ISRs. The "track" ED is gone but the "mat" and "neighbor-discovery" EDs look very interesting. Would the config guides for the 3560 switches be applicable?

Joe, thanks for all of your help.

EDIT: I found the eem version 3.2 release notes and config guides. Thanks.

Yes, the docs for the 3560 covering 12.2(52)SE or higher would be applicable when it comes to EEM.  The new EDs (mat and neighbor) allow you to monitor MAC address table changes and CDP/LLDP neighbor changes.  The desktop switches do not support enhanced object tracking, so the track ED is not there.  However, you do have EEM 3.2, so programmatic applet support is there as well as multi-event, EEM RPC, SNMP trap support, etc.

Hi,

Will this version support to below mentioned command?12.2(52)SE

EVENT TRACK command under EEM

CORE(config)#event manager applet test
COREconfig-applet)#even
CORE(config-applet)#event ?
  application         Application specific event
  cli                 CLI event
  counter             Counter event
  identity            Identity event
  interface           Interface event
  ioswdsysmon         IOS WDSysMon event
  ipsla               IPSLA Event
  mat                 MAC address table event
  neighbor-discovery  Neighbor Discovery event
  none                Manually run policy event
  oir                 OIR event
  routing             Routing event
  rpc                 Remote Procedure Call event
  snmp                SNMP event
  snmp-notification   SNMP Notification Event
  snmp-object         SNMP object event
  syslog              Syslog event
  tag                 event tag identifier
  timer               Timer event

No, event track is not supported on this platform.  However, you could use the syslog ED to match on the syslog tracking message.

event syslog pattern "TRACKING-5-STATE.* 123 .* Up->Down"

Hi,

Thanks, Now i am doing  with syslog tracking message..its working fine.

Regards

Kumar
