NEWB: Obtaining Firmware Updates

Answered Question
Mar 16th, 2010

Hi All,

OK, I've been trying to understand how I, a one-man business, can get a Firmware Update for an old router (c857) I purchased.

From what it appears, I need to take out a Service Contract with Cisco? Is this right? I don't want any hand holding, just the ability to download the file, but it looks like this is something Cisco have recently stopped doing?

Cheers,

Rich.

I have this problem too.

What is the cheapest way

to get a service contract number for the purpose of having fully patched and secure equipment? Some of the cisco equipment I've bought online does not ship with current firmwares.
