I ordered a WAE512 for one of our foreign companies. Now they got the appliance. i connected via console and detected that Cisco delivered a
ce512-5.5.15.2
Now to my question:
Is there a chance to migrate a Ce to WAE512. Including all of the required licenses, or do i need to replace this device.
If yes, were can i find the upgrade procedure?
thanks for your answers
Dieter

You can convert a ACNS software to the WAAS software on the appliance. The process would be via the rescue CD.
via the menu
Installer Main Menu:
1. Configure Network
2. Manufacture flash
3. Install flash cookie
4. Install flash image from network
5. Install flash image from cdrom
6. Install flash image from disk
7. Recreate RAID device (WAE-674/7341/7371 only)
8. Wipe out disks and install .bin image
9. Exit (Eject and reboot)
Choice [0]:
Note: Option 7 appears only for WAE-7341, WAE-7371, and WAE-674 devices.

Hi Eric,
thanks for your answer. Do you know how we should order in the future to prevent from getting the wrong image on the appliance.
I mean i've ordered a WAE ond not a CE.
regards
Dieter

I am assuming that you order the proper software license.
The WAE hardware can support both ACNS and WAAS software. Since ACNS is zero cost, if you don't order the software or the order is placed incorrectly this could happen. Make sure that the partner or who ever places the order doesn't ship the software independantly from the hardware.
Thanks

Hi Eric, i ordered based on the offer below. So: yes i assume i've ordered the proper sw license. ;-)
But for sure i do not know what the service partner did when he ordered at Cisco.
I'm checking this soon.
