I was wondering if anyone had seen this problem before.

I am trying configure a File prepositioning directive. When the WAE tries to browse the file server, our IPS drops the packet containing the login info. According to the IPS it matches a SMB overflow signature. Not sure if I can change anything on the WAE or not to fix this.It it defintely not a problem with the login credential them selves. WAE version is 4.1.3.

What type of IPS are you using?  Can you provide some additional information about the signature (exact name, ID, etc.)?
