Hi all,
I have 2650 Router and when i started the router today it went onto Rom on mode.
due to this i had no connectivity for my home network.
i console into router then i saw that it has Romon prompt.
i was not knowing what to do so i reboot the router and it came backup clean.
do anyone know why this happended?
should i check some software on my router to make sure all is ok?
Also what is best practice to shut down router gracefully if i am not using it for few days?
many thanks
mahesh

If you have only one IOS then this command is redundant. If you have more than one IOS then this command is optional. In my years with Cisco, I've never had the opportunity to use the boot command. I always, in my template, remove this command.

Hi Mahesh,
A few things you can check for:
1-make sure "sh ver" shows the config register is 0X2102
2-Check "sh log" and see any errors.
3-Check flash and make sure there is no crash files.
4-also maybe you have accidentally pressed the pause key during boot and that would cause the router to go to rommom
Unfortunately, there is no gracefully way to shut down a Cisco router but turn off the switch or pull the power cord out.

I think the IOS is corrupt and you need to re-upload the IOS via ROMmon. I'm not sure if the 2650 supports TFTPDNLD command.

Hi
Thanks for the reply
how can you figure out ios is corrupted?

You've got the following errors during the boot-up process:
lseek out of bounds
open: lseek error
open(): Open Error = -1
loadprog: error - on file open
boot: cannot load "flash:c2600-adventerprisek9-mz.124-25b.bin"
