Hi, We are preparing the data center for our customer for UCS installation. If i have 3 UCS blade chassis, each with 4 power supplies, i will need 12 x 16A circuit. Can anyone recommend the type of rack PDUs that is commonly deployed for UCS? Thanks Eng Wee

Check out Server Technology and their Smart CDU line of products: http://www.servertech.com/products/smart-pdus/smart-pdu-cs-12hd
Here is a document covering use with UCS servers: http://www.servertech.com/uploads/documents/0000/0611/Cisco-Server-Tech-208V-30A-Two-Cisco-UCS-5100-Series-Blade-Server-Chassis-CS-12HD2-L630.pdf
We are installing UCS this week (2x6120, 2x5108, 8xB250) using on of their CS-12HD2-L630 CDU's.

Just a follow up to say that everything is working fine with our Server Technology Smart CDU.

Rod,
Did you follow server tech's document and only use one PDU? Are you concerned about the single point of failure introduced by having a single PDU? If that device fails you would lose both chassis and your fabric interconnects.
I've been considering server technology for a new data center and now with the introduction of UCS to my enviroment I am having to plan to power it. Why did you not choose verticle power strips?
Appreciate your input.
Cheers.

Also, something like this from APC (a few of them), might work: http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP7866A
It does 45 amps per phase on a single PDU, with 12 C19 outlets
Also, are you confident you'll need that much power? Your specs seem pretty high, in my experience.

I think you are not correctly interpreting you power requirements. You have 3 chassis w/ 4 PS each and are looking to supply twelve 16A circuits. I put in 2 chassis w/ 4 PS each and it's working fine using 2 x 30A circuits into a Server Technology Smart CDU.
