Hello,

I am having an issue that started very recently.  We are seeing errors in the inventory starting this afternoon.

Error received is from failed job is:

RICS0001:Internal Error, unable to process the collected data from the device.

The Inventory Collector log shows repeated entries of:

InventoryCollector.java:InchargeConfigReader initialized
InventoryCollector.java:productInfo from InchargeConfigReader:DATA
Reading file :C:/PROGRA~1/CSCOpx\objects\smarts\conf\clientConnect.conf
DFMInitializer:Entered Initalizing...now
This time CREATING   A NEW CALLBACK OBSERVER

I have verified the credentials, and see no errors on the switch.

The IC_Server.log shows this error:

[ Mon Mar 22  16:07:24 EDT 2010 ],ERROR,[Thread-19],com.cisco.nm.rmeng.inventory.ics.core.CollectionController,935, Exception occured in process method while processing: 10.73.17.127 SQL Anywhere Error -638: Right truncation of string data
ICSException :: SQL Anywhere Error -638: Right truncation of string data
at com.cisco.nm.rmeng.inventory.ics.server.InvDataProcessor.processInvData(InvDataProcessor.java:473)
at com.cisco.nm.rmeng.inventory.ics.core.CollectionController.run(CollectionController.java:923)

Does anyone have any experience with this type of error?

This is a known bug, CSCsz85826.  It is fixed in 12.1(22)EA14.  To workaround it, go to RME > Admin > Inventory > Inventory Change Filter, and check the boxes next to Image:Description and Image:System Description.  Then inventory collection should work.
