What is the proper way to remove a VIP from Service on ACE module

Hello everyone,

I would like to find out if there is a graceful way of removing a VIP from the ACE Load-balancer config.

I attempted to remove it from the service-policy applied on the vlan interface, and I was not able to stop the continious ping to the VIP ip address.

The only way I was able to stop the ping response was to remove the class map associated with VIP from the  policy map  multi-match bready-slb-https
  class (class-map VIP IP address).

Any information or links will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

raman

Hi,

First make sure that the VIP only replies on ICMP when it is actually active (when there is at least one rserver in the serverfarm).

->    loadbalance vip icmp-reply active

Then, if you want to gracefully bring it down, suspend you rservers in your serverfarm. When they are all down, the VIP stops replying to ICMP.

Once everything is down, start by removing everyting in opposit order like you created it.

HTH,

Dario
