CCNP track

Unanswered Question
Mar 23rd, 2010

I have already passed the BCSI exam and planning to take BCMSN before end of May 2010. I may not be able to finish TSHOOT (642-832) exam before July 31, 2010. Will that make my earlier exam invalid and in order to get CCNP certification, I have to take exams for the new track? or I can pass the TSHOOT (642-832) exam after July 31, 2010 and still receive the CCNP certification.

Thank you for your input.

I have this problem too.

Hello,

It is quite simple

BCSI is going to be EOL and will be replaced with the Routing Exam

BSMSN is going to be EOL and will be replaced with the Switching Exam

Both of these Exams are also VALID towards the CCNA Certificate AFTER July 31st 2010 but will be no longer offered to test.

("Last day to test: July 31, 2010") this does NOT EXPIRE on that date!!!

the

642-825 ISCW

642-845 ONT

will be also EOL after July 31st 2010. ( "Last day to test: July 31, 2010" AND "Expires July 31, 2010")

BUT !!!

If you did not qualify (pass) all the OLD Track by July 31st 2010 the 642-825 ISCW and  642-845 ONT can NOT BE USED ANYMORE towards the CCNA Certificate, even if you PASSED on of them on July 31st it EXPIRES.

Thats why Cisco.com is recomending ...for candidates who have not yet attempted ISCW or ONT.." to take the TSHOT.

TSHOT is now in the BETA phase (till today) and will have its official kick off on April 30th.

This means for you:

You can prepare for BCMSN no problem, because the test itself will be valid towards CCNA after July 31st 2010 or you can prepare for the Switching Exam. The last is probably the better option, if you did not by the materials for BCMSN yet.

Don´t get confused between, "Last day to test: July 31, 2010"  and "Expires July 31, 2010"

TSHOT will be then your 3rd test to take.

Based on the info you provided, don´t make the mistake and test now for ONT or ISCW because based on your timeline you will probably not able to get to them in time.

Hope this cleard it up a litte for you.

Regards

Thank  you for your reply. Just to clarify

BCSI - already passed

BCMSN - will take exam on May 30, 2010

Now if i take the

TSHOOT exam - on September 2010, then i should receive the CCNP certification. Is that a correct assumption?

Yes, if you take the Tshoot exam in September and pass you will acquire CCNP status.
