Hi

I am trying to map  a port to Mac-add but i dont get any ports for a specific Mac-add

Here are the steps i do

Step 1. ping the server 192.168.25.1 --------- Successfull

Step 2. sh ip arp 192.168.25.1  -------------> this gives me the Mac-add of the server

Step 3. sh mac-address-table address 0014.sd12.ec02    ------------------> I dont see any ports when i run this command

Can anybody explain why this is happening when i can ping the server form the switch

Thanks

Hi,

Are you sure that is the correct mac address?

the mac can only contain A to F and 0 to 9 - not "s"

Kevin

Hi Brennan,

The Mac-add i entered is just an example

I copy the Mac-add from Show ip arp 192.168.25.1 command and enter it into step 3 but no ports

Thanks

Ok.

Is it a Microsoft NLB address? or anything similar?

Can you source a ping from 192.168.25.1 to one of your switches SVI's, and then search for it's mac address?

Kevin

Brennan,

I already have the Mac-add

Thanks

What kind of device has the ip address? Is it a MS NLB cluster?

Hi

Yes it an Linux Exagrid backup cluster

why is the switch behaving this way for a cluster

Thanks
