CUCM CDR Analysis and Reporting

I understand that CCM and CUCM no longer keeps CDR records and we now ship them off via FTP/sFTP to an external server. However, there is still the "CDR Analysis and Reporting" menu under Services-> Tooks ->. Is that so you can FTP/sFTP them to another server, then us CDR Analosysis Reporting to look at the data, or is this funtion totally obsolete, and Cisco left it in the Tools menu?

You can still get to CDR/CAR via the services menu in CUCM. That functionality is still there as long as you have CDR enabled on the cluster. What you're referring to is the best way to preserve your CDR files which is to leverage a "Billing Server" where you FTP/SFTP the CDR flat files to an off-box location/application (i.e., 3rd-party CDR tool such as Metropolis, Avotus, etc).
