cant seem to be able to get 802.1x working

Hi,

I have an ESW 520 switch, and one of the reasons I bought this switch is so that I could have some piece of mind about what computers are plugged into the wired network.

I was hoping to be able to manage this on the ESW 520, however configuring the thing is the most complicated process I have ever seen.

I've created a mac based ACL, but when I try to bind the acl to a port, I get an error dialog box saying..

"It is impossible to bind Policy and ACL to the same ingress interface."

Welcome to Cisco Community!

First make sure that you remove Smart Port Roles from the switch port. Once it is removed try to apply the ACL or just configure port security which is easier so long as the client you want to allow is already connected. Try that, if still you get errors post again with your running config.
