UC560, handset hears ringing after transferring a call

Audy Bautista

This is a similar issue to the post below.  I'm even going to copy and paste the description of the problem because it's exactly what's happening to the UC560 I'm supporting:

When we recieve an external call and a person tries to transfer the  call (without consultative transfer), the person who transfers the call  can still hear the ringing sound even after the call has been completely  transfered and the other person has picked it up.

This is becoming a big issue for the client, and I'm this close to just replacing the UC560, but I feel that there has to be a fix for this.  Anyone else experience this same issue?

Can you please provide Mily the requested infomation?

Attachment sent.

BTW, it's ephone 8 and ephone 10 that are reporting the problems; these are the 2 "reception" phones.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I recreated the issue in my lab, and the changes below seem to have resolved the ringing issue when I transfer the call from the second line.  I'm hoping that this is the final resolve, but would like to know if there's any negative impact to making this global change:

telephony-service
no transfer-system
transfer-system local-consult

ephone 8

restart

ephone 10

restart

I actually talked to a Cisco engineer on this (https://www.myciscocommunity.com/message/41726#41726) and she helped me isolate the problem.  Basically the issue is caused by the "call-waiting ring" comnmand under the ephone-dn.  Unfortunately, I can't remove it because the client wants this feature enabled:

ephone-dn  62  dual-line

call-waiting ring

Also found a "fix" which I'm not sure is a fix because it caused the production UC560 to reboot.

I added the following and it seems to resolve the ringing issue, but then the production untit rebooted a few minutes after I added the command; I didn't do a wr mem.   I added the config again just to see if it was fluke, and it rebooted again.  Any ideas as to why the unit would reboot?

telephony-service

transfer-system local-consult

create cnf

Here's a sh ver after the second reboot:

Open a case.   Sounds like you found something (interaction), but certainily beyond the community.

I did a quick search for open issues and actually found one with router crash, but that was when using an actual long string with that command which caused a buffer overflow.  I could not find any exactly like yours.

I noticed that you are running 15.0(1)XA. There is an updated version of IOS available for the UC560. Did you upgrade the UC560 to the 8.0.2 software pack yet? The 8.0.2 software pack contains IOS 15.0(1)XA2.

I have not upgraded yet, but that might be my next thing I try. I won't have a window for that kind of change for a few days, but I'm not convinced that this will fix the issue.
