poor voice quality when avaya users connect via VPN 3000 Concentrator

hi all,

need some advice on the below.

i have a pair of VPN 3000 Concentrator.

VPN Concentrator Type: 3060
Bootcode Rev: Cisco Systems, Inc./VPN 3000 Concentrator Series Version 4.0.Rel Mar 25 2003 15:45:12
Software Rev: Cisco Systems, Inc./VPN 3000 Concentrator Version 4.7.2.J Nov 02 2006 15:15:50

i receive complains from my users when they try to connect their avaya phone to the vpn from their home connection.

the voice quaility was poor and the voice break up intermittently.

is there any thing that i should look out for in order to troubleshoot this issue/

im seeing a incrementing of drop packet under IPSec (Phase 2) Statistics , does that mean anything at all?

advice needed.

You have VPN clients connecting to the concentrator and having poor quality on their avaya phones?

If this is so, you need to check several things:

VoIP could not tolerate any network delays.

One common problem is just the Internet connection on the client side. Might be fine for Internet data, but not good enough for voice.

You can provide QoS for the VPN tunnel if possible.

Is this a problem specific to a location (or some locations)?

Can you narrow it down to some clients?
