Cisco IP Phone 792x returning Not in Service for registration status

When I choose DHCP enabled, the registration goes through successfully for the CUCM configured as the TFTP server. When the DHCP is disabled and a different IP address is used, the registration returns a status called "Not In Service" ont he phone display. Anyone experienced this before ? Know why it could be happening so ?

Well, the phone typically gets its list of TFTP servers via DHCP Option 150.  If you turn off DHCP and hard code the IP settings, you'd want to set the TFTP server manually as well.  Give that a try and see what happens.

Sorry. Forgot to mention that I had the TFTP server manually entered in both scenarios, and the Alternate TFTP server option was enabled.

When you hard-code the IP address, have you verified that the subnet you are placing the phone into has the proper network connectivity to reach the CUCM?

Yes. It is the same subnet that the phone gets on, while it gets an IP allocated by DHCP .

Have you ensured that there is no IP address conflicts? Can you ping and/or connect to the phone via http? Check your DHCP scope bindings and config to make sure you don't have a conflict with the static address.
