Convert AIR-LAP1510AG to Autonomous AP

Unanswered Question

Hi Experts!

I have two AIR-LAP1510AG-N-K9 units that I want to convert to Autonomous Access Points..actually I want to run them as a Wireless Bridge truth be known. I have done some backround reading on Cisco.Com and around the WWW. I am confused as to if this is actually possible with the 1500 series units.

Quote from Lightweight Access Point FAQ document ID:70278

"Note: The 1000 Series APs and the 1500 Series APs are exceptions to this criterion. All the 1000 Series APs and the 1500 Series APs support only LWAPP"

Does anyone know if this can be done? and without access to a WLC?

Thanks in Advance!

I have this problem too.

Cannot be done as autonmous. They are LWAPP only APs (and not supported after 4.2 WLC).

I'm fairly certain the 1522 cannot be autonomous either.

You can do ethernet bridging with the 1510's, just not without the WLC. If you must use 1510's then you may want to consider a small controller (2106) to use specifically for the connection.

Thanks weterry,

Ok guess I will have to live with that. Is there any market for brand new but un-opened AIR-LAP1510ag UNITS?

thanks for the help!

You have but two choices:

1.  E-Bay; or
2.  Contact your authorized Cisco reseller and see if you can avail of the Cisco Technology Migration Program for Wireless.
