If I do this, will the external speaker send out the ring when the phone rings?

If I pick up the handset, will the conversation go out over the speaker?

The scenario - the speaker is mounted outside of office in a plant environment.  They just need to be able to be alerted when the phone is ringing.

I have seen this deployment for when the IP phone is in a paging group and people want to use it as an overhead speaker. As far as ringing amplification and private audio, I don't think this will work.
