Set up IS Emergency Ring and Page

ROBERT ISAACS

I am running UCM 7.1.3 and Unity 7.0. I am fairly new to Call Manager. My boss recently wanted to revive an old process that we had on the old analog switches that had the 3900 number ring on all IS phones (it was an IS Emergency Line number). I just added the number as a second line on all of the IS phones and bingo it worked like a champ. It can't be handled from outside but the original intent was not to be able to since we had pagers for outside emergency calls.

Now he wants to get rid of our two emergency pagers and handle it through the 3900 number. What he wants is for 3900 to ring on all IS phones just like it does now from 8 to 5 on weekdays but engage a call handler after 5 on weekdays and all day on the weekends. The call handler will have instructions to go to one number if the number 1 is pressed and go to another number if the number 2 is pressed.

The call handler part I feel good about. I can set up a call handler for 3900 to be active only during after hours on weekdays and all day on the weekends. And if this will override the ringing on the IS phones during this time I have what I want.

Can a directory number be a call handler number also? Will the call keep the number from ringing on the phones during it's operational hours?

Thanks,

Robert I.

Hi Robert,

A Directory Number can appear on both (Phones and Call Handler) so that

part won't be a problem, but the only way that Unity can control the Time of day

aspect of the call routing is if the call hits it first. This won't happen in your example.

I would look at controlling the call routing aspect using Time of day on CUCM instead

Rob,

     I set up:

          1) Time Period as Business_Hours_TP for 08:00 to 17:00 Monday through Friday

          2) Time Schedule with the Business_Hours_TP time period.

          3) A partition called Bus_Hrs_PT using the Time Schedule in #2.

          4) A Calling Search Space that includes the partition in #3 as well as other partitions that were included with the CSS before the change.

I then went to the 3900 directory listing and changed the partition and calling search space for it to the new partition and calling search space that I had just created. I got a call cannot be completed at this time. I tried it from outside and got the same thing.

     What did I do wrong?

Thanks,

RI

Hi Robert,

I don't see any mention of Translation Patterns, which play a big part here. Have

a look at this recent thread where Bill gives the best ToD "play by play" I have ever

seen. His explanation is far better than I could ever hope to give you and makes more

sense than the books/examples I'm sorry for not remebering this thread in the first place.
