Very strange ... I cannot login remotely with HyperTerminal to my Catalyst 2900 Series XL switch. Any ideas? I tried HTTP and it won't even bring up the login screen. Is there a remote way to reboot the router?
Thanks,
Gregg

Hello Gregg,
C2900XL even in last released IOS version for them suffer from a problem that make them not manageable at layer3.
it is the result of a bug that ends up the TCP resources of the management TCP/IP stack, but the problem is open because the product is not supported anymore.
We use the following trick:
on router or multilayer switch acting as default gateway for the C2900 we configure an outbound ACL that denies layer3 access from management systems like Ciscoworks or HP OVO to the C2900 management IP address.
The ACL has then a line permitting all other ip traffic and it is of type extended.
Usually after one hour or two the system becomes usable again.
In other cases if possible we ask someone on site to reload the switch
Hope to help
Giuseppe

The only way is for someone to manually remove the power.
