Partially Successful Vlan.dat after IOS upgrade

Hi,

we have updated some IOS and then, CW LMS from 3.0.1 to 3.2.

After first upgrade, we can see for some devices, that LMS can sabe VLAN RUNNING. After upgradind LMS, the error persists.

We have compared model (3750) and IOS version (12.2(52SE)) and for some nodes it works, and it fails on others.

What else should we have a look at?

Regards.

The way the vlan.dat is fetched is to telnet/SSH to the switch, then do a "copy flash:vlan.dat tftp:".  Therefore, you need to make sure that RME can login to the switches via telnet or SSH, and that TFTP is allowed from the switch to the RME server.

Hi Joe,

it has been working before IOS upgrade :-( at least this is was the client said. Is it possible??

Thanks in advance.

Anything is possible, but without more details, it's impossible to say.  If they are using telnet, post a sniffer trace of all traffic between the switch and the RME server while running a Sync Archive job.

They use SSH.

Credentials work properly.

What else do you need? I asked them to sniffer trafic :-(

#copy flash:vlan.dat tftp:

Address or name of remote host []?

Destination filename [vlan.dat]?

.....

%Error opening tftp:///vlan.dat (Timed out)

Thanks again.

root# netstat -na | grep LISTEN | grep *.69

root# netstat -na | grep LISTEN | grep *.25

      *.25                 *.*                0      0 49152      0 LISTEN

      *.25                 *.*                0      0 49152      0 LISTEN

      *.25                 *.*                0      0 49152      0 LISTEN

#copy flash:vlan.dat tftp:

Address or name of remote host []?

Destination filename [vlan.dat]?

TFTP: error code 1 received - 18025

%Error opening tftp:///vlan.dat (No such file or directory)

Solved after configuring tftp protocol on switch.
